This Saturday 15 July marks the 400th birthday of Leiden native son and master painter Rembrandt van Rijn. The Leiden city museum, the Lakenhal (cloth guild hall), is inviting all residents of Leiden to celebrate the birthday with coffee and cake.
Besides the coffee and cake, participants may also take part in a free tour of the current Rembrandt exhibit, “Rembrandt the Narrator”. The exhibit is second in a series of three special collections displayed at the museum in this Rembrandt anniversary year.
The celebration at the Lakenhal is just part of the Rembrandt Festival taking place in Leiden this weekend.
