Shiprock, New MexicoThis photo of Shiprock Peak shrouded in clouds was taken on 4 September 2004. On this two-week roadtrip with Amy’s parents, we drove from Chicago to Colorado and back (see our photoalbum for more photos of this trip). Shiprock is a mountain suddenly rising from the desert floor to a height of 1800 feet over the Navajo Reservation. The Navajo word for Shiprock means “Rock With Wings.” The rock was surrounded by low clouds as we approached it. |
